Dream Works Releases Software used in "Rise of the Guardians"


Dream Works Animation has spent years developing the specialized animation software for one of its most expensive movies ever. "Rise of the Guardians". Dream Works Animation giving it away for free to Competitors.

The studio released onto the open market one of the primary tools used to create "Rise of the Guardians", a $145 million animated film, which was released today (21-11-2012).

The name of the animation software is Open VDB, which allows animators to create volumetric effects such smoke and other amorphous materials more easily.

Dream Works Executives did not say how much they have spent to develop this software.
